Before getting into the story of Giulio, Aurelia, Mariagrazia, and Carlo Marchi, it is important to know a little about the events circumstances surrounding them.
Italy was under the Fascist regime of Mussolini long before their entrance into WWII on June 10, 1940, and lasted until the Armistice of September 8, 1943, which split Italy into the Allied nation lead by Marshal Pietro Badoglio and the Fascist regime. The Allied invasion of Sicily, Operation Husky, began on July 10, 1943 and the Allied forces moved into Italy resulting in the full liberation of Italy and the Nazi surrender on May 2, 1945.
